RICH PICTURE & UNVEIL

Problem:

Network Services was created in June 2019 as a direct response to the Putting Passenger First (PPF) programme and exists to support Network Rail’s routes, regions, and functions. They provide network operational, freight, telecoms, and technical expertise, as well as coordination of national programmes and initiatives that help them deliver for their passengers and freight customers. As their team has grown from 180 to 1,500 in the last 12 months, they needed to have a single image that could showcase their services, and how these were connected.

Visual solution:

We developed the initial concept using pencil and paper, working through a few drafts to perfect the composure and content. During this stage, we agreed with the client on the six areas being located around the central heart. A heart that pumps data around the network. Using existing brand guidelines, we were guided on the colours for each department. The final deliverable was a flat A4 PDF. Additionally, we decided to use this opportunity to showcase a new product that we have been developing, called UNVEIL. This is a rich picture/animation hybrid. As you scroll around the image, not only do you get various pop-ups of information, but you’re entertained by some satisfying subtle animations. This all drives user engagement and increases the amount of information they can absorb.
