DesertXpress

 

Case Studies/Brand Consultancy/DesertXpress

DesertXpress is a unique project proposing to build a privately funded, passenger rail service between Southern California and Las Vegas, using off-the-shelf high-speed rail technology.

Currently, there is no passenger train service to Las Vegas and the introduction of the DesertXpress would greatly reduce the growing problem of traffic congestion occurring along the busy Interstate Highway 1-15.

Whilst working as a consultant to Interfleet Technology, Will led the European design for the DesertXpress project.

The branding deliverables included:
• Logo design
• Livery design
• 3D CAD model – later turned into a computer animation to help promote the concept.

Taking cues from the bright lights of Vegas and the vast sands of the Nevada desert to reflect the unique qualities of the ground the train will cover, Will created a brand identity for the DesertXpress which really encompasses the aspirations of the project: to connect California and Las Vegas in a manner that is efficient, fast, environmentally sound and comfortable.
