Background: Working on behalf of existing client, MRL Public Sector consultants, I was brought in to create a new brand for a new charity called THAM. The objective of this Nigerian based “Girl-Child Education Foundation” is to educate women in regards to their rights.
Brief: To create a symbolic brand for this new charity that would be both punchy enough to be respected by men and emphatic enough to relate to women.
Approach: Ideas streamed around the suitable colours and symbolic themes of girls and the direction taken was to incorporate the face of a child within the colourful petals of a flower. The changing colours of the petals indicate the changing woman as she grows and begins to stand up for herself.
Results: The brand was initially applied to informational leaflets and a range of corporate literature, there are plans afoot for a website and further activities.
Projects/2008/Oaktree Joinery/
"In the seventeen-years that I have been running my business I have come across many charlatans who say they will do this and that for me. Will Baxter is the real deal and as I have told him on numerous occasions, in Oaktree Joinery, he has a client for life."
Martin Cox, Managing Director, Oaktree Joinery.
Background: Oaktree Joinery manufacture timber windows and doors. They sell direct to customers as well as through the trade.
Brief: Brand re-fresh.
Approach: I took the best of Oaktree Joinery's existing brand (the straight forward name and the green and gold colour scheme) and then added value with a splash of design magic. The result included a simplified logo, re-naming their window range (Cottage, Royal Bath, Excalibur, Statesman and Budget), oak tree leaves on their specification sheets, a new set of product photography and a new look to the homepage of OaktreeJoinery.com
Results: Oaktree Joinery were established in the last recession and are pleased to say that they continue to flourish during the existing economic downturn. Using their existing marketing process in line with their re-freshed brand has made them busier than ever. So busy in fact that they have taken on two new staff to cope with demand.
Projects/2008/John Dickson Packaging/
Background: John Dickson Packaging is a wholesaler of industrial packaging materials. In 2008 the company was bought out and the new owner wanted to optimise the lead generation of the company.
Brief: To design and implement and new website.
Approach: For the new website I decided to shoot all the products that John Dickson Packaging commonly supply in a straight forward manner on a white background. They layout of the website, with it's big clunky buttons and straight forward titling matched this too. Using the psychology that primary colours represent the simple things in life, the website colours are designed to give the impression that the products are well priced.
Results: The website went live two months after our first meeting and is regularly used by clients to place orders. View website here
